They can tell when I don't have my camera

As I turned off route 116 onto route 9 yesterday, I nearly ran my car off the road when I saw the huge red-tailed hawk sitting placidly on the power cable, back to traffic, looking out toward the bike path.

When you get to Medford, a trip to the top of the Cabot Center is worth it, especially on a clear day. You may see the two red-tails that hunt the campus from above. Falcons and hawks are pretty common in Somerville/Medford. Running along the Charles on the Boston side, you can sometimes catch them hunting along the back-side of Marsh Chapel. Even saw a bald eagle on a snow-covered Charles a few years back.

Actually, I appear to have spoken too soon; there was a pair of Thanksgiving-class wild turkeys (with chicks!) doing a regular posing session on the lawn outside my office just now.
